Overview
For the eleventh straight year, area deer hunters are offered the opportunity to win a share of thousands dollars in cash, trophies, ribbons, and grand prizes as the Mid-South Big Buck Extravaganza® determines, recognizes, and rewards hunters of the biggest Whitetail Deer harvested during the current-year season. The Mid-South Big Buck Extravaganza® is the mid south’s premier buck scoring competition open to deer from Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee!
2006 Mid-South Big Buck Extravaganza® Grand Prize
This year's prize will delight the hunter. This includes a $1,000 truck accessory package from DNW Automotive, Delta Tool Box, Hoyt Lasertech Bow, Knight Disc Extreme Muzzleloader, Muck Boots, and Hunter Safety Pro Harness.
2006 Judges
Like last year, this year’s team of scoring officials includes Lead Judge, Todd Sharp, Little Rock; Clinton Latham, Wynne, Arkansas; James DeSpain, Manila, Arkansas; and Larry Jones. Sharp and Latham are certified officials in the Boone & Crockett and Pope & Young clubs. DeSpain, of Manila, is a certified judge for the Pope & Young Club, which measures and scores bow harvests only. Jones is a certified judge for the BTR Buckmasters system. Under the leadership of Sharp, these judges will oversee the scoring, measuring, recording of scores, and awarding of prizes. Judging will take place in eight categories: Gun, Archery, Crossbow, Youth, Women, Muzzleloader, Open and Sheds. There is no entry fee.

1st Place Gun Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ‘05-’06 season) Thompson Center Arms Rifle, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Bow Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ‘05 - ’06 season) Bowtech 'Old Glory' Compound Bow, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Muzzleloader Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ‘05 - ’06 season) Knight 50 Caliber Disc Elite Muzzleloader, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Women’s Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ‘05 - ’06 season) Leupold Range Finder, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Crossbow Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ’05 – ’06 season) Horton Explorer Crossbow, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Youth Division: (AR, MS, TN, and MO Harvest Only ’05 – ’06 season). (Age 15 & under on date of harvest, male or female, gun or bow. Entries in this category cannot be entered in other categories. You must choose one or the other.) Benelli Shotgun, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Open Division: (May not be a prior winner of any previous Jonesboro Rotary Club Arkansas Sportshow or Big Buck Extravaganza®, but is permitted to have won in the “open” or “best of show” category at other shows and competitions in Arkansas. This division also includes pick-up racks and deer that are found or have been run over by automobiles. This division includes harvests from prior years and harvests from surrounding states) KenCo Tornado Feeder, plaque, and score certificate.
1st Place Sheds Division: (May not be a prior winner of the shed division in any previous Big Buck Extravaganza®) This division includes found shed antlers. Outdoor Prize Package, plaque, and score certificate.

Entry Deadline
An earlier entry deadline applies to this year’s contest: Saturday, February 4th at 6:00pm. Contestants must leave their entries until winners are announced. Security is provided. Winners will be announced, prizes will be awarded, and photographs will be taken Sunday at 4:00pm at the auditorium adjacent to the Mid-South Big Buck Extravaganza® area.
